Film still poster photo for 2004 Thailand film “The Unborn”
Directed by Bhandit Thongdee with cinematography by Surachet Thongmee - the artists who deserve credit for this chilling image.

This photo infamously made the rounds a few years after the film was released in Asia as part of a lame chain letter that spoke of a threatening “ghost under the bed.”

I found this image a year ago on tumblr, without artist credit. I can only assume it made it’s way to me on the back of the chain letter. While I agree, sharing photo finds is what tumblr is all about, I disagree that it is par for the course to do so without providing credit for images. Artists work very hard at their craft and deserve to be acknowledged for their efforts.

If a photo shows up in your life without a source, there are great image searches now such as tineye.com and Google images (click the camera icon in the URL bar). If you love an image, changes are good you’ll like other work by the same artist, so taking 5 minutes to search out the creator is a win/win.

Curator Samantha Levin eloquently explains why this is important.
